In Utah many of us have been following the saga of Charlie and Braden Powell, sons of Susan Powell, who has been missing for several years and now is presumed dead. The Powells lived in West Valley City. Josh Powell, Susan's husband, was a person of interest in her disappearance. Josh had been living with Charlie and Braden in Graham, Washington, and he recently lost custody of the kids, pending a psycho-sexual evaluation. The grandparents were caring for the kids, ages 7 and 5, and an aunt and uncle were preparing to adopt them.
You may have heard that last week, Josh Powell took a hatchet to his two sweet little boys and then started a huge fire that burned down the house and killed all three of them--right after the sons were dropped off for a supervised visit.
A funeral for the little boys was held yesterday in Puyallup, Washington, and hundreds of people from Washington and Utah were there. I get tearful every time I think about those little kids. What a travesty. I can't even imagine what Charlie and Braden's grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles are going through right now.
Situations like this make me incredibly sad, and they also remind me how fortunate I am to have the family I have. Rest in peace, Charlie, Braden and Susan.
I only heard a little about this, although I'm sure it is BIG news in Utah. So sad.
