More Brazilians

Today I spent the day with 13 Brazilian executive MBA students. I led a session in a week long course they're taking at Westminster College; my session was called leadership in the global economy--which I don't actually know much about, but I was able to read up on the topic! Here they are at a BBQ with some of our MBA students.

The Brazilians were incredibly good sports; it was heartwarming. Almost everyone talked during the discussion, even though not everyone's English proficiency was the greatest. Talking in class when you aren't real comfortable with the language takes a lot of courage.
The students are here for a week, and most of them have spent a lot of their free time shopping. Apparently electronics here are about a third of the price they are in Brazil. One student was looking for scrapbooking materials for his daughter, and I assured him he'd come to exactly the right location to find scrapbooking materials.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable day with a bunch of really nice folks....even if it did take about three days to get ready for.

  1. I couldn't even imagine speaking in class in another language... It's hard enough for me in English!
